Astronomical Data

You can make images of the sky using Goddard Spaceflight Flight Center's SkyView Virtual Observatory. A huge array of high resolution image data is available in a variety of different wavengths of light. You can choose the object, the size and scope of the image, even overlay the image with labels and grids. I made each of the images at right in a very short time using this tool using image data from the Palomar Sky Survey.

Another data service of NASA's GSFC is the HEASARC: Archive which allows access to a huge amount of astronomical catalog data.
